The urban jog tour of Brentford

If you love jogging and the city, then an urban jog tour of Brentford could be for you.

Organised by runner and personal trainer Ade Aboaba and urbanist and chartered planner Michael Owens, the event takes place on Saturday 18 August, beginning at 11am.

Starting and ending at the Grade II-listed Kew Bridge station, it will combine a fresh commentary on Brentford’s urban development with a decent cardiovascular workout.

Similar events have taken place in other parts of London and proved to be hugely popular.

The tour will offer a snapshot of the Brentford area and how it is developing.

The leisurely 10-kilometre (six miles) jog will take in Watermans Park, historic waterways, former dock areas to the ‘golden mile’, the impressive Syon Park, the high street and various community spaces along the way.

The jog will be at an easy-going pace. There will be regular pauses along the route to rest, stretch and to talk about what you’ve seen or are about to see.

It will last around two hours and –  if you’re comfortable jogging 10-minute miles – it’s definitely for you.

“We want to use our legs to explore the city and our brains to explore the idea of the city,” says Owens.

“We’d like to think we can draw on this inspiration and encourage people who join us to engage body and mind and thereby experience the urban in a fresh way.’”

Entry costs £20. For more information and to book your place click here.
