Sunderland v Fulham player ratings

Fulham had to settle for a point at the Stadium of Light despite going ahead with two first-half goals. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-2 draw against Sunderland.

Mark Schwarzer: 7
Organised his defence well and was dependable in the air as Fulham came under second-half pressure. Had little chance of stopping Sunderland’s goals.

Sascha Riether: 8
Another excellent performance from the German, who competed well against Adam Johnson. He also got forward and was rewarded with his first goal in English football.

Brede Hangeland: 7
Composed on the ball and unbeatable in the air as Sunderland piled on the pressure.

Philippe Senderos: 6
Also did well in the air, but his daft conceding of a penalty shortly before half-time helped Sunderland get back into the match.

John Arne Riise: 6
Had his hands full defensively and was exposed a number of times, but was willing to get forward himself and delivered a couple of decent balls into dangerous areas.

Damien Duff: 6
Offered some decent defensive cover on the flank but was ineffective going forward before being substituted in the second half.

Giorgos Karagounis: 5
An off-day for the Greek midfielder, who was another player that struggled to get into the match before being taken off.

Steve Sidwell: 7
Had a very effective game, screening his back four with a number of clearances and challenges as well as keeping possession well.

Ashkan Dejagah: 8
His pace and directness gave Sunderland all kinds of problems. Won the penalty which led to the opening goal and was involved in Fulham’s second too.

Bryan Ruiz: 6
Quiet in spells but able to create a sudden opening with the odd clever pass or drop of the shoulder.

Dimitar Berbatov: 7
A spectator for large parts of the game but classy when given the opportunity. Tucked away a penalty nicely and was later unlucky not to score again.

Emmanuel Frimpong: 5
Not the most convincing display after being brought on in the second half to shore up Fulham’s midfield.
