Liverpool boss said to be planning January bid for Chelsea man
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is planning to make a bid for Chelsea left-back Ryan Bertrand in January, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Rodgers, who knows Bertrand well from his time in charge of Chelsea’s reserves, is without the injured Jose Enrique and is believed to have doubts over Aly Cissokho.
Cardiff City and Sunderland are apparently also interested in the 24-year-old and could pursue a loan deal.
It is claimed that Liverpool could face difficulties over the potential transfer fee as bad blood still exists between the clubs over the sale of Daniel Sturridge in January, and that Chelsea could demand around £8m for Bertrand.
The Nottingham Post say Bertrand is wanted by Nottingham Forest, where he previously had a spell on loan.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mirror pick up on reports in the Portuguese press that Chelsea are in talks over a £30m move for Porto striker Jackson Martinez.
The Mirror also say Blues boss Jose Mourinho has still not given up hope of signing Colombian forward Radamel Falcao, who joined Monaco from Atletico Madrid in the summer after being strongly linked with a move to Stamford Bridge.
