Blues tipped to block Mata move as Shaw is linked with exchange deal

Chelsea would be unlikely to allow Juan Mata to join Napoli on loan, the Mail on Sunday say.

The Italian side, managed by former Chelsea interim boss Rafael Benitez, are one of several clubs to have been linked with the player.

But they are now reported to have decided not to make an approach, as they apparently believe it would be rejected.

Mata is tipped to instead move in the summer, with Paris Saint-Germain said to be willing to pay £30m.

The Daily Star Sunday, who say Mata’s future could be decided next week and that Atletico Madrid are favourites to sign him, link former Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli with a possible transfer to Chelsea.

Balotelli is said to be unhappy at AC Milan and keen to return to the Premier League, with Stamford Bridge apparently his preferred destination.

Meanwhile, the Sunday People say Southampton are interested in taking Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea as part of an exchange deal involving their highly-rated full-back Luke Shaw.

Chelsea are again linked with Wayne Rooney, with the Mail on Sunday suggesting they are ready to make a £30m bid if the England star’s contract talks at Manchester United do not progress.

Galatasaray are putting together a £10m deal in a bid to lure Chelsea skipper John Terry to Turkey, according to the Sunday Mirror, who also say Gary Cahill is set to be offered a new four-year contract by the Blues.
