Report says Blues are still eyeing Rooney and Cesar is linked with move
Chelsea are still monitoring Wayne Rooney’s contract situation at Manchester United, The Guardian reports.
The Blues wanted to sign Rooney in the summer and it is suggested they could renew their interest at the end of the season, when Samuel Eto’o is tipped to move to the MLS.
Toronto FC, managed by former QPR defender Ryan Nelsen, have been linked with Eto’o, but he is thought to prefer a switch to the United States rather than Canada.
Los Angeles Galaxy, DC United, Club Deportivo Chivas USA, Seattle Sounders and Chicago Fire are all mentioned as possible destinations for the Cameroon forward, who joined Chelsea on a one-year contract in August.
Meanwhile, Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is interested in signing Julio Cesar on loan from QPR according to the Daily Mail.
Rangers want a permanent deal for the Brazil goalkeeper, who has not played for the club this season and is keen to move on but has been unable to secure a transfer.
