Real Madrid closing in on deal for Chelsea star – reports

Spanish media have suggested that Real Madrid are close to agreeing a deal to sign Ashley Cole from Chelsea in January.

Real’s former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is said to be keen to capture the England left-back, whose contract expires in the summer.

Following Roberto Di Matteo’s sacking as Blues boss, The Sun say club owner Roman Abramovich has now paid out nearly £70m in pay-offs to axed managers, while the Daily Star put the figure at around £75m.

The Sun also say Di Matteo was shown the door after being warned he would be fired if he left out Fernando Torres.

Meanwhile, QPR are looking to sign Bordeaux forward Yoan Gouffran in January, according to the Daily Mirror.

Rangers have been dealt a blow by the news that Bobby Zamora is out for three months, joining Andy Johnson on the sidelines.

That leaves them short of options up front and it is claimed Gouffran, 26, is a target for when the transfer window opens.

His contract expires at the end of the season so it is suggested Bordeaux would rather cash in on him than lose the player for no fee in the summer.

The Star say Harry Redknapp will give the Ukraine FA an answer by Sunday as he waits to see if a vacancy crops up at QPR, where manager Mark Hughes is under fire.

Redknapp is supposedly is giving serious thought to accepting a lucrative offer to take over as Ukraine boss.
