QPR v Sheffield Wednesday player ratings

QPR midfielder Massimo Luongo

QPR laboured to a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday. Here’s how we rated the Rangers players at Loftus Road.

Rob Green: 7
Composed in pretty much everything he did. His handling looked secure and he was only really troubled by a free-kick pushed over late in the first half.

Nedum Onuoha: 7
Solid defensively, though he was occasionally troubled by Barry Bannan. But offered very little going forward.

Grant Hall: 6
Had a tough time against Atdhe Nuhiu and got away with a first-half slip when Wednesday botched their attack. Won a few tackles but his distribution was sometimes sloppy.

Clint Hill: 8
Turned 37 on Monday – not that you would know it after an excellent display, marred only by the incident in which Modou Sougou was stretchered off. He was composed in the air and led the back line superbly on his first appearance in two months.

Paul Konchesky: 7
Tidy performance, praised afterwards by Chris Ramsey, and produced a goal-saving challenge on Lucas Joao – despite Wednesday claims for a penalty.

Sandro: 7
Struggled initially and was booked for a late lunge on Jose Semedo. But played one of the best passes of a pretty forgettable encounter with a volley into Tjaronn Chery’s path, and was busy tidying up in the final minutes.

Daniel Tozser: 6
His set-piece deliveries left a lot to be desired and he failed to really get a grip of midfield.

Matt Phillips: 6
A disappointing night by his standards. Very hit and miss with the ball at his feet and blazed QPR’s clearest chance over the bar.

Massimo Luongo: 7
Saw a lot of the ball and linked up play well with some crisp passing.

Tjaronn Chery: 7
Looked Rangers’ most threatening attacking player as he twice went close in the first half and was denied a goal after the break only by a tremendous save from Keiran Westwood.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: 6
Worked hard and forced the first save of the game after cutting in from the right flank. He had to drift out there though as he got little change from Wednesday’s defenders. His substitution brought howls of derision from sections of the home fans.

Leroy Fer: 6
Replaced Emmanuel-Thomas midway through the second half but struggled to make an impact.
