QPR v Everton player ratings
QPR remain bottom of the table and without a league win this season after failing to beat 10-man Everton. Here’s how we rated the players in Rangers’ 1-1 draw at Loftus Road.
Julio Cesar: 7
Unfortunate for Everton’s goal and produced an important save in the second half to deny Phil Jagielka.
Jose Bosingwa: 5
Any notion that Mark Hughes should have thrown on another striker in the second half is misguided as it would simply have allowed 10-man Everton to sit deep and defend. Given that, and with Armand Traore fading on the opposite side, Bosingwa needed to do a lot more on the flank to help Rangers make the extra man count and open the visitors up.
Stephane Mbia: 6
Rightly switched back to the centre of defence, which is his best position, in place of the unreliable Anton Ferdinand. Was always going to take time to adjust to the Premier League and in this game showed signs of progress.
Ryan Nelsen: 7
Showed his admirable professionalism again by returning from international duty and playing well before going off late on having given everything he had.
Armand Traore: 6
Talented and offers much all the way down the left side, but is stuck in a rut. Still developing as a player so needs game time, but appears to be also still developing physically so is struggling to get that game time. Did well before making it clear he wanted to come off. Rangers should stick with him as he could be an asset in the future and, unlike Fabio, he’s their player.
Ji-sung Park: 6
More effective wide on the right and an improvement on Shaun Wright-Phillips, but still not influential enough.
Samba Diakite: 7
Less reckless than in previous matches. Is the key to improving Rangers’ dismal away form and will have a crucial role in away games when they’ll be stretched by teams that move the ball around quickly – Saturday’s visit to Arsenal being a prime example.
Esteban Granero: 7
Still adjusting to English football but has obvious quality and isn’t afraid to mix it physically.
Adel Taarabt: 6
Lively start but faded as the game went on. Will have better days.
Junior Hoilett: 6
Got lucky with his goal – not least because he opted against putting Taarabt through. Playing in a role that usually forces defenders to make difficult decisions, yet is far too easy to pick up at times.
Bobby Zamora: 6
Holds the ball up well but Rangers need to get men beyond him and into the box more consistently. There’s a real lack of cohesion at the moment.
Djibril Cisse: 7
Lively after he came on.

I’d love a midfield three of Granero, Faurlin and Diakite. But then you have to play Hoilett and Taraabt out wide (and tell them to stay there). That also means always playing one up front, which isn’t always the best way to open up a defence (plus, Cisse can’t play up front on his own). We seem to have a bit of an embarrassment of riches in midfield, but are one shy at the back and another shy up front.

Think Granero was MoM and deserves more. Would sooner have seen Faurlin on the pitch and not Park. Largely agree with the rest.
