Mourinho speculation: Former Tottenham boss Ramos linked with Chelsea job

 

Former Tottenham boss Juande Ramos is a contender to take over at Chelsea on an interim basis, according to The Times.

Ramos, 61, is available having decided not to sign a new contract at Ukrainian club Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.

There is much speculation about Jose Mourinho’s future in the wake of Monday’s 2-1 loss at Leicester – Chelsea’s ninth league defeat of the season.

The Sun claim he has lost the support of some players after declaring that he felt “betrayed” by them.

The newspaper quotes as source as saying: “That sort of comment is interpreted as Jose trying to distance himself from the result and the performance, whether it is right or not.”

The Sun also claim there is anger among Blues players that Diego Costa got away with throwing his substitute’s bib in boss Mourinho’s direction during the recent game against Spurs, and that there is bemusement that Cesc Fabregas has been selected despite his poor form.

The Telegraph, meanwhile, say it is a question of when rather than if Mourinho is axed.

The Daily Mirror, which believes Mourinho will be staying, reports that he has told some players he feels he should have sold them during the summer.

And the Daily Star say Mourinho will not be able to spend his way out of trouble, with club owner Roman Abramovich apparently refusing to sanction big-money signings.
