More speculation over Rangers keeper Cesar’s future

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet is reported to have cooled his interest in QPR goalkeeper Julio Cesar.

Poyet, a friend of Rangers’ goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchcock – they were team-mates at Chelsea – recently indicated that he was considering taking Cesar in January.

It was the first approach QPR have received for the Brazil international, 34, despite reports of interest from a host of clubs since he was made available at the end of last season.

But Poyet is reconsidering after being impressed by Sunderland keeper Vito Mannone, according to the Daily Mail, who say Cesar is available for a fee of around £1m.
