Man City v QPR: player ratings
We made Clint Hill our man of the match for QPR against Manchester City, but there were several contenders on a great day for the club. Here’s how we rated Rangers’ players in their battling display against the new champions.
Paddy Kenny: 7
Should have kept out City’s opening goal but made amends with fine saves in the second half and marshalled his defence well.
Nedum Onuoha: 7
Difficult game against his former club and was at fault for City’s second goal, But was otherwise strong and committed, playing his part in a resolute defensive performance.
Anton Ferdinand: 8
A really good display from a player whose career has been blighted by mistakes. Held it together well and put his body on the line.
Clint Hill: 8
A real hero for Rangers, not just in this game but during the season generally. Produced a whole-hearted display with no little quality.
Taye Taiwo: 6
Determined, but was caught out for the opening goal and had as many bad moments as good.
Jamie Mackie: 8
Had a crucial role down the flank and was not found wanting. Worked tirelessly to help out his full-back and popped up to score Rangers’ second goal.
Shaun Derry: 7
Like Hill, a real unsung hero who let nobody down on the big day.
Joey Barton: 4
Let down his team-mates and club with a daft sending-off and his outrageous conduct before leaving the field is sure to land him in hot water.
Shaun Wright-Phillips: 6
A surprise choice against his former club and again struggled to recapture past form, but worked hard.
Bobby Zamora: 7
Offered little going forward but did an important job defensively, especially at set-pieces.
Djibril Cisse: 8
Great finish for the goal – his sixth in eight games since joining Rangers.
Armand Traore: 8
Did brilliantly after coming on and produced a cracking cross for Mackie’s goal.
