Man Utd reportedly want Chelsea target, Blues linked with Bayern man

Manchester United boss David Moyes has joined Chelsea in the apparent race to sign Atletico Madrid star Diego Costa, the Express claim.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is also said to be interested in the striker, who is supposedly a transfer target for the Blues.

Atletico sporting director Jose Luis Caminero has told Spanish newspaper Marca he is confident Costa will stay put.

Caminero said: “Costa does not thinking about leaving. He has shown that he wants to continue with this club.”

Meanwhile, Talksport suggest Chelsea are likely to show an interest in Bayern Munich forward Mario Mandžukić, who is reported to be wanted by Arsenal.

Demba Ba is again being linked with a possible return to Newcastle, this time by the Express.

It is claimed the Chelsea striker is one of a number of players on a shortlist of targets drawn up by Magpies director of football Joe Kinnear and chief scout Graham Carr.

The Express also say Real Madrid are set offer former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso a new contract, apparently scuppering Chelsea’s hopes of signing him.

Finally, Kevin De Bruyne’s agent Patrick de Koster has denied reports Chelsea want £25m for the Belgian midfielder.

German magazine Kicker has also reported that De Koster has been seen at Wolfsburg’s winter training camp in Abu Dhabi, seemingly suggesting they are close to signing De Bruyne.

“Hopefully something happens,” De Koster is quoted as saying. “Kevin would prefer a move to the Bundesliga.”
