Cole ‘keeping options open’ and QPR are linked with Algeria forward

Carlton Cole is “keeping his options open”, the West Ham striker’s agent Saif Rubie has told Sky.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp wanted the former Chelsea man before Cole signed a short-term deal at Upton Park, and is interested in signing him this month if his contract is not renewed.

Hammers boss Sam Allardyce has indicated that he would like to keep the player.

“It is correct that West Ham have made contact about extending Carlton’s deal, which is due to expire later this month,” said Rubie.

“Carlton is West Ham through and through and we will sit down and listen to what they have got to say.

“Carlton wants to help West Ham get out of trouble and stay in the Premier League, but the deal has to be right him.

“There has been interest in Carlton from other clubs and he is keeping his options open.

“At this stage of his career he wants a deal best suited to him and he is a West Ham player until 20 January and then we will see what happens.”

Meanwhile, Inter Milan striker Ishak Belfodil, 21, is also wanted by QPR, Sky Italia say.

Belfodil’s representatives have touted the Algeria international for a move to England and he has also been linked with Fulham and Crystal Palace.
