Chelsea will find out soon whether they will be able to make a move for Real Madrid’s former Liverpool star Xabi Alonso, the Daily Star claim.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho has been linked with a move for the Spaniard, who played under him at Real.
Manchester United have also been linked with him and Liverpool are reportedly interested in taking Alonso, 32, back to Anfield.
Recent reports in Spain suggested Alonso, whose contract runs out at the end of the season, had agreed a new deal to stay at the Bernabeu.
Now it is claimed that his future remains uncertain and the Premier League clubs apparently looking to sign him will know in two to three weeks whether he is likely to be available.
