Huddersfield v QPR player ratings
QPR secured their third straight league win with a 1-0 victory at Huddersfield on Saturday. Here’s how we rated the players at the John Smith’s Stadium.
Rob Green: 7
A confident display, with a good command of his area. Was only tested the once, when he gathered a shot from Jacob Butterfield in the first half.
James Perch: 6
Got a couple of important blocks in but was stretched a bit more by late substitute Mustapha Carayol and was booked for a foul on the winger.
Nedum Onuoha: 7
Aside from a casual moment on the ball in the second period, he was strong in the air and made important interceptions. Did walk a tightrope in the first half and was perhaps fortunate to avoid a booking.
Grant Hall: 7
Also lucky to avoid a card for a thunderous challenge in the first half but is blossoming into a natural partner for Onuoha.
Paul Konchesky: 6
His ongoing battle with the lively Sean Scannell was one of the highlights of the match. Used his experience to good effect at times but Scannell did get the better of him more often than not.
Chris Ramsey on Rangers’ defenders: “I thought Paul Konchesky defended a lot on his own and that allowed Chery to go forward. I also thought Nedum Onuoha, Grant Hall and James Perch were fantastic.”
Alejandro Faurlin: 6
Provided a useful screen but his passing was inconsistent, particularly in the first half.
Michael Doughty: 7
Came in for father-to-be Karl Henry and broke up play well. Also made an important clearance off the line in the second half.
Matt Phillips: 7
Always carried a threat on the counter-attack and put in some decent crosses, before forcing a good save from Town keeper Joe Murphy. But, with the transfer deadline looming, was this his last game in Rangers’ colours?
Massimo Luongo: 7
Gave Huddersfield problems in bursts, with good technical quality and was lively on the break. Set up Tjaronn Chery’s goal which turned one point into three.
Tjaronn Chery: 8
Growing in confidence with every game he plays, the Dutchman grabbed his third goal in the space of a week to win the match. Always looking to be involved, his combination play with Luongo, Charlie Austin and Phillips was very good indeed.
Charlie Austin: 7
Started brightly with a deflected shot just over bar and linked up well with those around him. He was also a presence in his own penalty area when QPR defended corners.
