Transfer gossip: Nigerian youngster offered to Chelsea, Fer linked with move

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving the area’s clubs…

The agent of Kelechi Nwakali, a Nigerian youngster whose brother Chidiebere is on Manchester City’s books, claims Chelsea have discussed a possible deal to sign the teenager.

Klay Ekeocha has contacted a number of clubs, including City, Arsenal and West Ham, about the player since Nwakali impressed at the Under-17 World Cup.

And Ekeocha has told Nigerian media that Chelsea have shown an interest.

“We are in contact with Chelsea, Udinese and Olympiakos,” he has been quoted as saying.

“City and West Ham are no longer involved because of work permit issues. We got in touch with Arsenal and there’s no feedback yet.”

Also in the Nigerian media, John Mikel Obi’s agent John Shittu has indicated that he is unsure whether the midfielder will stay at Chelsea, where his first-team chances have again been limited.

“The player had offers to move at the beginning of the season,” Shittu is quoted as saying.

“Chelsea refused to sell because they probably had him in their plans. Now we have to wait and see what happens

Meanwhile, QPR midfielder Leroy Fer has been linked with a return to his former club Feyenoord.

The Dutch media, which in recent months has tipped Rangers to sign a number of players not on the club’s radar and has linked Fer with various other sides, say he could rejoin Feyenoord on loan.

It is claimed that the Eredivisie club might look to Fer if they sell Tonny Vilhena when the transfer window reopens in January.

Rangers are keen to get Fer off their wage bill and would welcome a loan deal – they held talks with PSV Eindhoven during the final stages of the summer transfer window but were unable to reach an agreement.

Before that, Fer agreed a season-long loan move to Sunderland but an ongoing knee problem meant he failed a medical.
