Fulham v Newcastle player ratings

Hugo Rodallega’s second-half header gave Fulham their first win in eight matches. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-1 victory over Newcastle.

Mark Schwarzer: 6
Produced some important saves but was badly at fault for Newcastle’s goal. Not helped by a deflection but should still have kept it out.

Sascha Riether: 8
Two goal-line clearances and an all-round excellent display.

Aaron Hughes: 6
Caught out a few times in the first half but was generally solid against a dangerous attacking side.

Brede Hangeland: 8
Very good on his return from suspension. Won everything in the air and helped steady the ship during a period of Newcastle pressure late in the first half.

John Arne Riise: 7
Was unlucky for Newcastle’s goal. Had a good game.

Damien Duff: 8
Had a fine game against his former club, providing assists for both goals and causing Newcastle problems throughout.

Chris Baird: 6
Solid apart from spells late in the first half and early in the second when Newcastle controlled the midfield.

Steve Sidwell: 7
Used the ball well and closed down to good effect.

Alex Kacaniklic: 7
Impressed on his return from injury, although he did miss a good chance early on.

Dimitar Berbatov: 8
Pure class again. His subtle movement and hold-up play confused Newcastle’s shaky defence all evening.

Hugo Rodallega: 7
Took his goal well and deserved it for his tireless work up front.

Ashkan Dejagah: 7
Full of running after replacing Kacaniklic midway through the second half.
