Fulham v Everton player ratings

Fulham came from behind to win at Craven Cottage, where Darren Bent’s goal put them into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup at the expense of Everton. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-1 victory.

David Stockdale: 7
Stockdale made some important saves near the end as Everton pushed for a late equaliser and the keeper will feel pleased to have put his recent gaffe against Chelsea behind him.

Elsad Zverotic: 6
The new signing gave a good performance on his debut for the club, offering plenty of attacking support to Alex Kacaniklic. Looks a decent signing at first glance.

Philippe Senderos: 6
Senderos was solid enough but at times struggled to cope with the gigantic presence of on-loan Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.

Brede Hangeland: 7
Saved his team from conceding a second goal numerous times, intervening after Everton’s on-loan Barcelona youngster Gerard Deufoleu got the better of John Arne Riise on several occasions.

John Arne Riise: 5
Deufoleu toyed with him in the first half. The Norwegian veteran was let off the hook by the interventions of his captain Hangeland. Riise produced another performance that showed why he is second choice behind Kieran Richardson.

Scott Parker: 8
Parker was Fulham’s best player on the pitch aside from Dimitar Berbatov. The former Tottenham man is using every ounce of his experience and quality to dominate the midfield for Fulham and he is proving a priceless addition to the team.

Giorgos Karagounis: 6
Karagounis was useful on the ball but he was another player beaten repeatedly by the impressive Deufoleu as the 19-year-old exploited the space around him.

Alex Kacaniklic: 6
The young winger played on the right flank and was not as dangerous as he can be from the left.

Pajtim Kasami: 5
After impressing in the first half against Chelsea, Kasami did not seem to build on that performance in this game and he remains unconvincing despite manager Martin Jol’s persistence in playing him from the start.

Adel Taarabt: 6
Taarabt made some good, incisive forward passes, especially in the first half, but he was not the direct threat he likes to be.

Dimitar Berbatov: 8
Berbatov was excellent on his return from a hamstring injury – a cut above from the rest of the Fulham team besides Parker. When his team-mates fail to give him the ball he drops into midfield to pick it up himself and barks at other players to make forward runs.

Fernando Amorebieta: 6
The summer signing is proving a useful left-back when Jol needs him there but his natural position is in the middle of the defence.

Darren Bent: 7
Bent made up for a decisive miss against Chelsea with a precise finish to win Fulham the game in the second half. Jol will be looking to see how he can accommodate both Bent and Berbatov into the same team on a more regular basis.
