Fulham v Blackburn player ratings

rossmccormack
Fulham secured their second win of the Championship season in defeating Blackburn Rovers 2-1 with goals from Ross McCormack and Moussa Dembele. Here’s how we rated the Whites players in their victory at Craven Cottage.

Andy Lonergan: 8
The keeper made a superb save low to his right from Ben Marshall – one of several impressive stops.

Jazz Richards: 6
Looked a threat when marauding forward but was caught out of position too often. Many of the visitors’ attacks came through the Wales international failing to contain a lively Craig Conway.

Richard Stearman: 7
New signing Stearman was a vocal leader in the defensive line throughout and largely marshalled striker Jordan Rhodes well. Provided multiple important headers and clearances to stave off danger.

Tim Ream: 6
Solid for the most part but struggled to cope with the pace of substitute Fode Koita in the second half, having been reasonable in the first.

James Husband: 7
Excellent in the first half, bombing forward regularly with success and aplomb on overlapping runs. Had a quieter game after the interval though and gave away a penalty.

Tom Cairney: 7
Facing the club he joined Fulham from in the summer, Cairney was the creative hub from which much of the hosts’ best play emerged. Passed the ball well.

Ryan Tunnicliffe: 7
Defensively solid, shielding the back four well for most of the match.

Jamie O’Hara: 7
Showed an excellent range of passing with both feet, which was particularly evident when he helped Fulham control possession in the first half. Forced into more defensive work after the interval but looked competent in either guise.

Ben Pringle: 6
Relatively ineffective, often losing out to Danny Guthrie in the midfield battle both physically and technically. Was substituted for Ryan Fredericks just after the hour mark.

Ross McCormack: 8
A poacher’s finish for the first goal put Fulham ahead and he got in behind the Rovers defence often through clever movement. Found space regularly down the left flank, making him a constant threat.

Moussa Dembele: 9
Provided a superb assist for the opening goal, bursting through the defence and unselfishly setting up McCormack. Bundled in the second from close range to claim a goal that was merited for his performance.

Ryan Fredericks: 7
Did well after coming on, injecting energy into the Fulham midfield just as Blackburn were beginning to gain a foothold.
