Song linked and Blues youngster is tipped to complete loan move

A round-up of the latest transfer speculation involving Chelsea…

Chelsea have again been linked with Alex Song as a possible cheaper alternative to Axel Witsel.

The Evening Standard believes competition from Juventus and AC Milan and a starting price of £22m will put the Blues off a deal for Witsel.

Song’s £5m valuation and the former Arsenal man’s home-grown status player is also said to appeal to Chelsea.

The Daily Express suggests the midfielder has been offered a three-year deal worth £70,000 per week to stay at West Ham, where he was on loan last season, but this could be scuppered by Chelsea’s interest.

Jose Mourinho is also reportedly interested in signing Stoke goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

The Bosnian international is seen by the Daily Star as the replacement for Petr Cech, who looks set to leave Stamford Bridge.

The Standard claims Lyon defender Samuel Umtiti, said to be a target for Chelsea, has been offered a new contract by the French club, who have described him as “untransferable”.

Meanwhile, reports in Italy which suggest Gonzalo Higuain is happy to stay at Napoli are being reported by the Express as bad news for Chelsea and Manchester United, who it says were interested in signing him.

And Andreas Christensen’s proposed loan move to Borussia Moenchengladbach is close to completion, according to German tabloid Bild.
