Latest speculation over QPR trio as bid for Phillips is rejected

There continues to be speculation over the futures of QPR duo Charlie Austin and Matty Phillips, while Sunderland have been linked with Junior Hoilett.

Rangers have turned down a £7m bid from West Brom for Phillips and earlier this week rejected a £12m offer from Leicester for Austin.

The Mirror say Albion have agreed fee for Phillips, prompting Metro to declare that the winger’s move to The Hawthorns is done deal.

Sky Sports believe Albion had £5m bid rejected, as does Midlands newspaper the Express & Star, which also believes a compromise can be reached over a fee.

Rangers want £10m for Phillips and further talks between the two clubs are expected to take place over the coming days.

As for Austin, Newcastle are yet again tipped to make a move to sign him despite so far not making any approach.

QPR want £15m for the striker and Leicester’s recent bid was the first offer or approach made for Austin despite numerous reports of various clubs attempting to sign him.

Newcastle are now ready to make an offer around the £15m mark, the Sunday Express claim.

The Daily Star Sunday also say Newcastle are prepared to meet QPR’s asking price in order to beat Leicester to his signing.

But the Mail claim Newcastle have concerns over Austin’s long-term fitness because of a previous shoulder injury and are unwilling to pay more than £12m.

The Sunday People pick up on recent speculation that Austin would prefer to stay in London, suggesting he is waiting to see if Chelsea come in for him and, if they do not, that he would favour a move to West Ham.

And The Sun on Sunday reports that Bournemouth will offer QPR £14m for the 25-year-old.

  • Still waiting for a couple of young central defenders to be purchased.
Caulker, Fer, Hoilet, Austin, Matty Phillips all going.
QPR will be left with no Premiership quality and few Championship proven players.
No cohesion and no recognizable team.
Ramsey will need any skills he allegedly possesses and some luck to product a good quality team to compete with the others in a division which is full of aspiring hungry for success teams.
QPR at no stage have stated they are looking for a quick return to the Premiership.
Still I am trying to digest why QPR suggested they wanted to emulate Brentford.
No disrespect to our neibours but Brentford are not a blue print for QPR and never have been.
What is being said is there team which has done well was put together with zero funds.
I think QPR and Zero funds may be something us supporter need to accept again.
The Ferdenez down the pub with supporters has stated he needs to be elsewhere as his Air Asia doesn't look to be such a good bet for investors for the future and that plane tragedy will be remembered by all for a long time.
You can all see the new recruits two from Swindon one from Bristol City who's contract was not renewed and a German who wasn't playing in the top flight as he has not shown his under 21 potential.I forgot Jamie Mackey let go as he was not good enough for the Premiership getting on now but unable to say a bad word against a QPR lad who has a heart of gold.Come on you Rangers fans what are you thinking.GVS
