Transfer gossip: Chelsea linked with Calleri and Okonkwo

Chelsea are being linked with moves for Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri and Nigerian teenager Orji Okonkwo.

TalkSport, picking up on reports in Italy, suggests the Blues will have to fight with Stoke City and Inter Milan for 22-year-old Calleri.

Chelsea and West Ham are said to be interested in 17-year-old Okonkwo, who impressed with his performance in the semi-final of the Under-17 World Cup.

The Nigerian media are claiming representatives of the two clubs will meet with Okonkwo’s mother and his club, St Thomas FC, on Wednesday to discuss terms.

Nicolas Higuain, the brother and agent of Gonzalo Higuain, has reportedly dismissed speculation the Napoli striker will join Chelsea.

The Daily Mirror had claimed the Argentine was Blues boss Jose Mourinho’s top January transfer target.

But, speaking to Radio Crc in Italy, Higuain said of his brother: “Gonzalo is quiet, he has a contract with Napoli and he is not preparing for a departure because he is happy.”

Meanwhile, The Sun suggests Chelsea players want Didier Drogba to return to the club to train with them to lift morale.
