Chelsea and Costa may have turned the corner – expect them to beat Arsenal

Chelsea host Arsenal Saturday’s early kick-off and will be looking to atone for the recent home defeat against Crystal Palace.

Jose Mourinho has never lost back-to-back home league games as Blues boss and that, combined with Chelsea’s excellent record against the Gunners, makes them excellent value at 7/5 to win this weekend’s derby. Arsenal are 21/10 and the draw 5/2 with BetVictor.

Saturday’s 3-1 defeat at Everton leaves Chelsea 11 points behind leaders Manchester City at the top of the table and they were duly eased to 12/1 (from 10s) with BetVictor to successfully retain the Premier League title.

Mourinho’s side have gained just four points from the opening five games of the campaign in what is now the club’s worst start to a league season in almost 30 years.

They responded in the perfect fashion in midweek, brushing aside Maccabi Tel Aviv 4-0 in their European opener. We have cut Chelsea to 8/1 (from 9s) to win a second Champions League crown and 1/5 (from 2/7) to finish top of the pile in Group G.

Diego Costa looked like his old self again – and looks the most likely player to fire the hosts to victory against the Gunners.

We make him the 19/4 to score the opening goal at the Bridge, 11/8 to net anytime and 12/5 to do so in a home win.

Arsenal have scored just two goals in their last seven league games against the Blues, drawing a blank in the last four, and Costa is 35/1 to net the solitary goal in a 1-0 home victory and 50/1 to score first in a 2-0 Chelsea success.

Eden Hazard has scored the opener in the previous two league fixtures between the clubs at the Bridge and is 13/2 to do so again and 60/1 to score in a 2-0 home win.
