Chelsea and United fans on Twitter react to Mata substitution
Many Chelsea fans on Twitter are keeping their fingers crossed that Juan Mata might return to Stamford Bridge, after he was brought on and then taken off again during Manchester United’s Community Shield victory.
Mata, a two-time Chelsea player of the year, left the club in January 2014 after being deemed surplus to requirements by then Blues boss Jose Mourinho – now in charge at United.
Mourinho explained he replaced Mata in the closing moments of Sunday’s win over Leicester, 30 minutes after bringing him on, because he “needed to take off the smallest player” – but Chelsea fans were unconvinced.

I think Juan Mata have not yet recovered from the shock of leaving Chelsea, I believe he will be a better player for Man U this season. But if Mou doesn’t want, I don’t think Chelsea needs him either. If Chelsea must buy Mata, Fab or Oscar must leave. For me Chelsea should go get Ada Turns. He’s energetic; good mobility and skilful. Turan is just what Chelsea is missing after Lampard left.

I have liked José but am beginning to take a look at his football philosophy. I don’t think he knows talent and will look at what Chelsea have lost in his second coming. 1. Lukaku 2. De Bruyne 3. Bought Shurlle and sold him 4. Bought Cuadrado and loaned him. 5. Bought Felipe Luis and sold him 7. Juan Mata 8. Mohammed Salah bought and loaned. If talent weren’t good enough, what will be good enough? I forgot to mention Baba. Rahman also?

I used to think Jose was great but now am thinking otherwise,the tinkerman is better than Jose.Why can’t he inherit a team like Ranieri did and take it to the top to show he is a super coach?Always buying big name players to do the job for him,those kind of players anyone can coach because they don’t need to be told what to do in a soccer field.I truelly feel for Bastian and Juan,Jose is the boss but he needs to learn from previous mistakes.

Why chelsea is the one have to take rejected players, examples are Pedro, Fabregas, and they never take us to a higher level, we should be thinking about getting big players who are currently performing not some stupid players like the ones Mourinho brought to chelsea to destroy our bigger Club chelsea and left, what in God’s name are we going to do with Mata, now even Mourinho has learned lesson and recruiting better players to make Manchester United more better team and our fans are here screaming to bring Mata back, we should be screaming for a player like Marco Reus not Mata, we should stop bringing unnecessary players to chelsea and start dumping players like Ivanovic, magic, Pedro and fabregas and stop being stupid bigger club

It doesn’t make any sense at all. Jose sell mata to united for no reason and them at united he started treating him in that manner. Am not happy at all, Juan is a great player he controls the ball more than this other top player of the world he doesn’t deserve such kind of substitute its good if Jose don’t need him we welcome him home. Stamford bridge is his home let him release the player rather than treating him as if he is a young player am not happy at all.
