Bees linked with Oldham defender

Brentford are competing with Burnley for the signing of Oldham Athletic defender James Tarkowski, according to the Sunday People.

It is claimed that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is keen to capture the 21-year-old but that the Bees see him as a someone who could help them clinch promotion to the Championship this season.

The Clarets have reportedly made an offer of £300,000 for Tarkowski, who had made 71 league appearances since being given his Latics debut in 2011.

Reports of interest in Tarkowski come as he is discussing a new contract at Boundary Park.
