Optimistic Fernandes accuses some QPR fans of ‘giving up’

Tony Fernandes took to Twitter after QPR’s 2-1 defeat at Southampton and insisted there were “many positives” despite the result.

Struggling Rangers, without injured midfielders Joey Barton and Jordon Mutch, were beaten again despite a superb goal from Charlie Austin and lost Sandro to a head injury after only eight minutes.

But chairman Fernandes claimed that was room for optimism ahead of games against West Ham and Liverpool.

He tweeted: “Many positives today. Southampton in form. Team fought despite so many injuries and one after 10 minutes. Nico and fer Henry great. Great goal.

“Also want to give Bobby and armand a shout. Thought Armand was outstanding in defense today.”

Many fans are alarmed following a start to the season in which Rangers have lost all of their away matches, with manager Harry Redknapp coming in for some criticism.

“I find it weird how fans give up so quickly. We have had 3 main midfielders missing. I’m looking forward to Upton Park and then Liverpool,” Fernandes wrote.

  • We need to change Rio for Onuoha, get Junior and Matty Phillips on fire and score lots of goals, Zamora should sort that out for us........

  • I'm sure we all QPR fans would have wanted the perfect start for our beloved team.
After six games with four points in the kitty and having played top teams like spurs,
Man utd and high flying Southampton ain't a bad result at all.But I can understand
Where the frustration of the fans is coming from. Our first game against hull was winable
But we failed to get even a draw. Against Spurs and man utd we never even tried and we will always wonder what if, had we tried. Good three points against Sunderland and
Again against Southampton we deserve at least a draw, having tried and played well.
Green, Ferdinand and Isla are all three outstanding players but week in and out they have underperformed and costed us crucial points. Redknaapp must be bold enough to drop them and let them fight for their place back. We have in yun and inouha two outstanding players but they can have a game. Coming the January transfer window they might be tempted to look for regular start up elsewhere and this would be a disaster
For us. All we want is for Harry to put his best available team in the starting eleven but it's not happening. On paper we are a very strong team and have a great manager in Harry, he just need to work his flair and magic and put a winning team out every game.
If the commitment is there, we will grab enough points to survive the premiership.

  • Best defender at club can't get game every team looks like they can score against us and we wonder why we lose
Let's tighten up and keep in the game and bring on impact players late on coupled with krancjar's free kicks we might have a chance

  • as a fan of 40 years we are very poor no idea in any area we havent any tatics and apart from austin we have all championship players mr fernandies is a great chairman but has poor advisors

  • Let's be honest tony, the boys won the playoff final for us, Arry already admitted that he was dreaming of the golf courses , we were poor for the majority of the season finishing well behind Leicester , put him and all the rangers fans out of our misery and move on, I believe the players we have can get us out of it they just need suitable leadership and redknapp no longer has it, he has been a lucky manager just look at the facts on his career , you got rid of Warnockwas after 6 games and we have gone downhill since, I'm not saying he was our saviour but we played excellent football which had passion and purpose, we are just limping along now which surely you can see .... Best wishes and hope you make the decision sooner rather than later, season ticket holder in the paddock for 11 years and fan for 45 years so it is not a rash call, It is an honest judgement .

  • We are not giving up,yes we have made some comments that some disagree about or have upset people, but fans are entitled to their opinions.our fans will always support this great club.we have improved our performance this week.probably our best performance even tho we lost.but don't forget we are the only team to score against Southampton at home this season.

  • Using injuries as an excuse is stupid We were shit when all the players were fit as well.
I havent given up, by no means, but the team is shit at the moment, and not surprised the fans are fed up.

  • All I ever hear is people moaning about our managers and how bad they are , even warnock and olly , it's a new team it takes time ff sake give it a rest and get behind the guys or jog on you muppets

  • Some of these comments are idiotic, as was stated 6 games gone ok not the best start but we will improve, need positive views & for TF slagging that's outrageous.
