Defiant message from QPR chairman Fernandes after Leicester’s victory
Chairman Tony Fernandes took to Twitter to insist QPR will bounce back from their first home defeat in the Championship this season.
Jamie Vardy’s goal at Loftus Road – where the match was interrupted by a squirrel – gave Leicester a 1-0 victory over Rangers, who face Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day.
Fernandes tweeted: “One of those days. Had many many chances. I think they had 3. Thought we deserved 2 penalties. On another day. We will be back.”
Chief executive Philip Beard wrote: “Disappointing to lose last home game of the year, especially under those circumstances. Happy Christmas and we bounce back on Boxing Day.”
Joey Barton was sent off with five minutes of the game remaining, so must serve a one-match suspension.
He tweeted: “The most ridiculous red card ever. If that is two yellows the game has gone. Will have to refrain from commenting on the referee for fear of furthering a one match ban.
“It would help if we had full time referees IMO. Ah well, the way they handled the squirrel summed it up.
“We will bounce back from this. Its a long season. Fair play to Leicester. They stuck to their game plan and defended for their lives.”
R’s midfielder Gary O’Neill added: “Created enough chances! Got caught and conceded a really bad goal! Disappointing but another big game in 4 days!”

SHOULD HAVE BEEN 3-0 up at halftime is not good enough. Missed chances are inept finishing and multiple shots from 20 yards show lack of control in the final third.
When the opposition miss a sitter, hit the bar and score in about 6 attempts, that has to go down to bad defending.
The midfield might be good at passing in wide open spaces, but they move forward far too slowly and their work rate is 60%.
No matter what they say about the new spirit in the club, more than a few personnel resemble the dross of last season.
When I watch teams from the top half of the EPL, we wouldn’t live with them.

As a neutral I have to agree that Leicester, despite winning, did not look automatic promotion material. QPR created a host of chances in the first half and, with better finishing, could have been 3 up after half an hour. Leicester scored with their first shot on target after 41 minutes.

Lucky long ball Leicester, QPR were poor but with the ref not giving obvious penalties, I think Leicester had a very lucky day on the pitch, think they will fade after Christmas

asshole akotta couldnt pass urine yesterday.. out of his depth and should go..very lack lustre qpr team need to do better.. and we will get biffed at forest and watford.. if we play as bad as that.. need to up the tempo work harder for the ball and the team.. barton nothing to say on about him that hasent already been said for most of his footballing career…(grow.up)

Are you mad??? We had a game plan. You have conceded just 2 goals at home and not lost once. We went with a game plan to defend and sucker punch you in which we did and it worked. Don’t look like promotion??? Think you’ve got the game all wrong mate.

Lucky 10 seconds for Leicester stole the points. Leicester don’t look like getting promoted to me. Two shots on goal all game. Rangers were unlucky and should have taken all three points really, just unlucky againgst a team with 11 players behind the ball for 89 minutes. That’s the beauty of football, the best team doesn’t always win but it’s also good to focus on what we don’t do well when playing teams looking for a point. Merry Xmas all Rrrrrrrrrr’s! Ref looked like he was out of his depth, small man syndrome one suspects…..

I remember watching QPR in the 1950s 0-1 down at home and they would pepper the opposition’s goal – half a dozen corners in the last 5 minutes.
Today, I watch them stroll about for 67% of the play – half no more than 3 threatening raids on goal and puff out like a damp squib at the death. Right now, they are not EPL material.

Comfortable win for the foxes to be honest. qpr huffed and puffed for about 25 minutes then gave up. Why blame the ref for the squirrel. qpr stewards should have sorted just sat on their arses. scared of it were you boys? Don’t get Barton. such a wasted talent could be England potential but just cries off at the slightest thing too easy to rattle
