City v QPR player ratings

After a dismal first half, new-look QPR made a fight of it at Manchester City before going down 3-1. Here’s how we rated Rangers’ players.

Rob Green: 5
Produced a couple of instinctive saves but still very shaky and transmits that uncertainty to his defenders.

Jose Bosingwa: 6
Good on the ball and did nothing particularly wrong.

Anton Ferdinand: 5
Unconvincing and faces a real threat to his first-team place with the arrival of Stephane Mbia.

Ryan Nelsen: 6
Solid and a good organiser. Missed two good chances to make it 2-2 though.

Fabio: 6
Struggled in the first half with City, having clearly identified the on-loan full-back as a potential weak link, targeting him at every opportunity. Did better after the break.

Shaun Wright-Phillips: 5
Tried hard against his former club but struggled to make an impact.

Alejandro Faurlin: 6
A welcome return for Rangers and produced some good work at times, but City were dominant in midfield.

Esteban Granero: 7
Looked a class act on his debut – even when Rangers were being totally overrun. A real threat from set-pieces and showed a lovely range of passing.

Ji-sung Park: 6
Poor in the first half but improved as the game went on and produced a couple of vintage bursts down the flank.

Andrew Johnson: 7
Did well. Looked dangerous on the counter attack for Rangers and played a key part in their goal.

Bobby Zamora: 7
Worked hard in the second half and was also an important presence in the air when Rangers were defending set-pieces. Three goals in as many games now for the striker.

Nedum Onuoha: 6
Did quite well after coming on. Much better in the centre of defence than at full-back.

Kieron Dyer: 6
Showed glimpses of why, if he can stay fit, he could be a useful option for the R’s this season.

  • @Viktor, you obviously didn't watch all the game. Granero was our most productive player and will be a big player in the PL. And to be honest, none of our players would make it on to the city bench. Just hope Hughes has the balls to drop Ferdinand. By far the weakest link. Either unfit or lazy! Just too slow, plan and simple.

  • Granero was useless, good set pieces but nothing else, would'nt even make the city bench
