Chelsea v Liverpool player ratings

Chelsea dominated much of Sunday’s game yet ended up having to settle for a point. Here’s how we rated the players in their 1-1 draw at home to Liverpool.

Petr Cech: 7
Was barely called upon before he twice came to Chelsea’s rescue in the closing stages, first racing from his line to thwart Luis Suarez and then producing a good save at his near post to deny Jose Enrique.

Cesar Azpilicueta: 7
Solid and reliable throughout, again showing that he can take care of the right-back position when Branislav Ivanovic is moved into the middle.

John Terry: 7
Marked his return with a goal – his 50th for the club – and was having a good game before being stretchered off. A real shame – and a huge worry.

Branislav Ivanovic: 7
Again proved what a good option he is at centre-back. Was unlucky not to score with a late header.

Ryan Bertrand: 7
Had his hands full at times but bounced back well after a difficult game against Shakhtar Donetsk in midweek.

John Obi Mikel: 7
Often criticised but has been a key player this season, holding the fort while Chelsea’s attacking stars strut their stuff.

Ramires: 7
Also did a good job in the centre of the park, offering much more in both boxes than Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard. Clearly pushed by Suarez for the equaliser.

Juan Mata: 7
Produced moments of typical magic, taking players on and showing his fantastic range of passing. But missed a golden chance to put Chelsea 2-0 up in the first half and it proved costly.

Oscar: 7
Also missed a good chance in the first half but overall was excellent, drawing defenders to him and either beating them or picking out a team-mate.

Eden Hazard: 7
Drifted in and out of the game but always a threat to the Liverpool defence with the ball at his feet.

Fernando Torres: 6
Made a fine start against his former club, leading the line well and running at the Liverpool defence. He then faded after failing to take a decent chance, although he was unlucky with a second-half header which was well saved.

Gary Cahill: 7
Unlucky to be dropped to the bench and after coming on he again showed his class.
