Chelsea v Corinthians player ratings

Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign ended in disappointment as they lost to Brazilian side Corinthians in the final. Here’s how we rated the players in their 1-0 defeat in Japan.

Petr Cech: 6
Didn’t have a great deal to do despite Corinthians having plenty of possession and putting Chelsea under pressure. Had little chance for the goal.

Branislav Ivanovic: 6
Solid enough at right-back. Would probably have cleared off the line had Emerson’s first-half effort been on target rather than fired against the outside of the post.

Gary Cahill: 5
A game to forget for the Blues defender. As well as being sent off he missed a good chance to score and a first-half error might have led to a goal being conceded. Never looked comfortable.

David Luiz: 7
Haphazard at times but overall had a decent game and used the ball well too when stepping out of defence.

Ashley Cole: 6
Had his hands full defensively and was barely able to get forward.

Ramires: 5
Has done a good job many times in the deep midfeld role which isn’t his natural position, but in this game he was poor. His passing was particularly sloppy.

Frank Lampard: 6
Neat and tidy with the ball but when they had the ball Corinthians were able to play through Chelsea’s less mobile midfield.

Victor Moses: 5
Ineffective before being substituted in the second half.

Juan Mata: 6
Showed some nice touches but overall was well short of his best.

Eden Hazard: 5
Another of Chelsea’s attacking players who failed to shine. Missed a good chance in the second half.

Fernando Torres: 5
Offered very little threat and should have scored when denied by the keeper at point-blank range late on.

Oscar: 6
Replaced Moses with 18 minutes remaining and wasn’t really able to get into the game.
