Report: Mourinho, not Abramovich, to decide over Chelsea trio

Jose Mourinho has told John Terry, Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole he wants them to stay at Chelsea, according to The Sun.

All three Blues stalwarts are out of contract at the end of the season and can now talk to overseas clubs.

But it is claimed that boss Mourinho has already decided that they will be offered new deals.

The Daily Telegraph, meanwhile, reports that Mourinho has not made a final decision but that club owner Roman Abramovich will leave the matter in his hands.

It is suggested that this represents a major shift in policy at Stamford Bridge and is a sign of Abramovich’s trust in the manager.

It is also said to be of comfort to Terry and Lampard, as it’s believed it makes it more likely that they will be retained.
