Chairman Fernandes targets signings after another narrow QPR win

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes told fans on Twitter he hoped to make signings following the 2-1 win against Bolton.

Rangers are hoping to sign an experienced defender and at least one striker before Friday’s transfer deadline.

“I’ll take the win 55 points and 57 to play for. Keep getting those points. Hopefully get one or two signings,” Fernandes tweeted.

Tuesday night’s victory was secured by goals from Charlie Austin and Karl Henry.

Austin’s 40th-minute opener – his 15th goal of the season – came after he had received lengthy treatment on the pitch for a shoulder injury.

The striker later explained: “To those asking about my celebration it was to do with my shoulder and the big strapping I had on it #anothergoal #15.”

On-loan Tottenham man Benoit Assou-Ekotto played as a makeshift right-back because of injuries to Danny Simpson and Nedum Onuoha.

Assou-Ekotto tweeted: “Not eazy to play right bk lol but i did (tried). 3 points for Qpr tonight lets see spurs tmw GOOD luck.”
