Can City end Chelsea’s run? The punters think so

Leaders Chelsea are 2/1 with BetVictor to win the title but City are the 15/8 market leaders.

And despite Chelsea’s brilliant run of results, City are favourites for Saturday’s big game at the Etihad as well.

Momentum is certainly with the visitors, who beat rivals Tottenham last time out and are looking to make it eight league wins on the bounce.

City themselves are in good form; unbeaten in their last nine games since the 4-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp, and have been cut to 2/1 from 5/2 to be top of the table on Christmas Day.

They were far from impressive at Burnley, where Sergio Aguero’s brace got them out of jail – we’ve cut the Argentine striker to 5/4 from 2/1 to be the league’s leading marksman this season.

Aguero receives plenty of plaudits, and rightly so, but it’s Kevin de Bruyne who is the key to Pep Guardiola’s side and BetVictor make the Belgian the 5/1 joint favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year and 6/1 joint favourite – alongside Chelsea’s Eden Hazard – to be man of the match on Saturday.

City have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last five games in all competitions and I think Diego Costa – the man with the best minutes-per-goal ratio of any Chelsea player in Premier League history – can hurt them.

Costa has only failed to score or assist a goal in two of his 13 Premier League appearances this season and he is 5/1 with BetVictor to score first on Saturday and 13/10 to net at any stage of the game.

Top of the Premier League table on Christmas Day – prices from BetVictor:

Chelsea 6/4
Man City 2/1
Liverpool 2/1
14/1 Bar

Meanwhile, in the Championship, Brentford have been cut to 18/1 from 25s for the drop after losing three on the bounce.

The Bees now face Norwich at Carrow Road and are 3/1 to win, with the Canaries 5/6 favourites and the draw 27/10.

Fulham are odds-on favourites against Reading, with the visitors 3/1 and the draw 12/5.
