Brentford v QPR player ratings

Marco Djuricin’s second-half goal gave Brentford their first victory over QPR for 50 years. Here’s how we rated the players in the derby at Griffin Park.

Brentford

David Button: 7
Produced one fine save from a close-range Matt Phillips header, but otherwise had little to do. Could do nothing about the two efforts which flashed past him to strike woodwork.

Nico Yennaris: 6
Solid on the right and managed to minimise the threat from Tjaronn Chery.

Harlee Dean: 6
A towering presence at the back and hardly put a foot wrong. Was the glue that kept the defence tightly bound and increasingly dominant. The cornerstone of an historic win.

James Tarkowski: 6
Not called upon to produce too many heroics, but took Dean’s lead to ensure the Bees remained defensively well organised throughout.

Jake Bidwell: 6
Frustrated Phillips for most of the evening and often managed to get up in support of attacks down the left and launch a few dangerous crosses.

Alan McCormack: 7
Born to contest a hot-blooded derby, but faded slightly after a dynamic first half. Booked for a spat with Clint Hill, but that was all grist to the mill for the tireless midfielder.

Toumani Diagouraga: 8
Instigator of many a good Bees counter-attack as well as strangling many Rangers raids at birth. Involved in the build up to the goal and overall was very impressive.

Ryan Woods: 7
An excellent night’s work. Full of energy and typical of the home side’s great work ethic. The youngster played his part.

Alan Judge: 8
Arguably the stand-out performer of the night. Always looked the most likely source of a goal with his intelligent probing, and his low cross set up the winner. Deserved his ovation when substituted late on.

John Swift: 8
A very lively contribution from the on-loan Chelsea youngster. Always prepared to drift in off the left flank and always looking to link up with Bidwell and Judge to create openings.

Marco Djuricin: 6
The Austrian was often isolated and barely had a touch all night. Except when it mattered. Strikers worth their salt will take that any day.

QPR

Rob Green: 7
There was nothing the R’s stopper could do about the goal and generally he had a very solid match. Saved comfortably enough from Swift and Judge before the break.

Nedum Onuoha: 6
Had some good moments but was caused problems by Swift and was sloppy at times, including in the build up to the goal.

Grant Hall: 7
Read the game well. A very timely interception cut out a dangerous cross in the first half, summing up his generally calm control.

Clint Hill: 5
A disappointing night from Rangers’ warrior. He was booked after a tangle with McCormack and limped off in the second half after hurting his knee.

Paul Konchesky: 5
A very patchy and uncertain night for the experienced left back. Looked flustered and misplaced too many passes.

Karl Henry: 6
A decent showing but he was certainly eclipsed by Diagouraga in the holding midfield stakes.

Daniel Tozser: 5
Collected a first-half booking for upending McCormack and never really managed to impose himself. Created one half-chance for Chery.

Tjaronn Chery: 6
A first-half chip that cleared the bar was typical of a night that never really ignited for Rangers. Replaced by Charlie Austin after 63 minutes.

Massimo Luongo: 7
Very unlucky to see two first-half efforts come back off the woodwork – the first a header from a Phillips cross, the second a low shot across Button that struck the inside of the post.

Matt Phillips: 6
A frustrating night for the winger, who pinged one shot at Button but failed to convert a header from six yards and ended the match with a booking after hacking at Diagouraga.

Jay Emmanuel-Thomas: 6
The silky touches failed to open up a resolute Bees defence and was he robbed of the ball a couple of times when he would have expected to do better.

Charlie Austin: 6
Will take a few games to recover full fitness after his lay-off. Came on for Chery just past the hour and had one half-chance when Button raced out to beat him to the ball.

Junior Hoilett: 5
On for Luongo after 67 minutes but unable to alter the course of a match, which seemed to get away from Rangers more and more as the second half wore on.
