Bolton v QPR: five key battles

qprbolton

QPR travel to Bolton this weekend looking for only their third win in 14 matches under manager Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink. Here are five potential battles we think could be crucial to their chances on Saturday.

Paul Konchesky v Liam Feeney
Hammersmith lad Feeney, a former Hayes winger who has featured in every Bolton game this season, loves to cut inside on his preferred left foot and will test Konchesky, who has been badly exposed in one-versus-one battles in recent weeks.

Nedum Onuoha and Grant Hall v Gary Madine and Zack Clough
Bolton are in desperate need of goals as they look to claw themselves off the foot of the table. Boss Neil Lennon will be able to pair Madine with Clough if they can prove their fitness after back and hip injuries respectively. If not, veteran former England striker Emile Heskey could continue up front.

Massimo Luongo v Darren Pratley
Luongo has started the last five matches and should survive any post-Fulham shake-up, particularly with Alejandro Faurlin out with a thigh problem. No-one can expect an easy time of it against former Fulham and Brentford midfielder Pratley, who has collected 35 yellow cards in his four-and-a-half years at Bolton.

Matt Phillips v Dean Moxey
Moxey is another Bolton player set to return after missing last week’s defeat by Brighton. Rangers need more from Phillips in what looks a winnable battle for him if he can produce anything like his best.

Conor Washington v Dorian Dervite
Devite has missed training of late with a knee injury which is being managed on a game-by-game basis. Rangers will want to test him and recent signing Washington is in contention for a starting place after shaking off an injury.
