Blues players past and present toast Chelsea’s title success

Chelsea clinched their first Premier League title in five years by beating Crystal Palace 1-0 on Sunday.

Players past and present, and a few famous fans, have been taking about the latest title success on social media.

Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois tweeted: “Champions of the Premier league!! Great season from everybody!! What a day for all the club.”

Diego Costa, who has been injured for the past month but has scored 19 league goals this season, wrote: “Proud of this blue triumph! We’re Premier League’s Champions.”

Centre-back Gary Cahill added: “We did it! Champions! Huge thanks to everyone at CFC & especially my family for help making this dream come true.”

Ron Harris, the club’s all-time record appearance maker, tweeted: “I played my last game for Chelsea 35 years ago today. It was number 795. Great day to win the league then. Well done Jose, JT & Chelsea.”

Full-back Cesar Apilicueta tweeted: “Happy and proud of this team. We’re the PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!!”

Eden Hazard, the man whose goal against Crystal Palace secured the title, kept things simple: “Champioooonnnnnnnnnnnn”

Lifelong Blues fan, former England cricket captain and current Surrey coach Alec Stewart, wrote: “Congrats to @ChelseaFC Quite simply the best side in England by a very long way. #PremierLeagueChampions.”

Meanwhile, Frank Lampard, Chelsea’s all-time top scorer and now Manchester City midfielder, posted a message of congratulation on Instagram.

He stated: “A massive congratulations to all my old teammates and friends at @chelseafc for winning the Premier League.

“A huge achievement and well deserved by everyone at the club. Also to all those fantastic fans that I had the pleasure to play for for 13 years. I know how much it means to you all!”
