Chelsea will assess Eden Hazard to see if he is fit enough to be included in the squad for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup quarter-final against Bournemouth.

Hazard went off towards the end of Sunday’s win at Brighton after picking up a foot injury.

The problem does not appear to be serious and he was due to train on Tuesday afternoon.

However, he could sit out the game against the Cherries, which Alvaro Morata will definitely miss because of twisted knee he suffered against MOL Vidi in the Europa League.

Speaking at a media conference on the eve of the cup tie at Stamford Bridge, assistant boss Gianfranco Zola said a decision had yet to be taken on whether Hazard would be involved.

“Eden has got a knock in his foot and we are assessing him. I think we will decide today,” Zola explained.

“Obviously Hazard is one of our best players so to have him available is a big deal, but we don’t want to compromise anything.

“We will see. It depends on how the fitness test is going to go.

“Alvaro has a problem. He twisted his knee against Vidi. It won’t take, I believe, long (for him to recover). But he’s not going to be in contention for tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, when asked about Callum Wilson, Zola appeared to confirm Chelsea’s interest in signing the Bournemouth striker.
