James, Kante, Chilwell and Fofana included for Abu Dhabi trip

Reece James, Wesley Fofana, N’Golo Kante and Ben Chilwell have all been named as part of Chelsea’s squad for their training camp in Abu Dhabi.

The Blues will take on fellow Premier League side Aston Villa in the CBF | Al Wahda Challenge Cup  on Sunday as part of their preparations for the season, which resumes on 27 December.

James suffered a knee injury while playing AC Milan in the Champions League on 11 October, while Chilwell suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Dinamo Zagreb on 2 November – forcing both to miss the World Cup with England.

Fofana has been absent since October with a knee injury sustained in the home game against AC Milan but is closing in on a return to action.

There is also a place for Kante, who is recovering from his latest injury setback having missed the majority of the season with a hamstring problem.

Chelsea say their injured players are joining the Abu Dhabi training camp “to continue their rehabilitation”.

There are also places in the squad for several youngsters, including Lewis Hall, Omari Hutchinson, Cesare Casadei, Ben Elliot and Mason Burstow.
