Chelsea’s 100% record under Maurizio Sarri came to an end as they had to settle for a point at the London Stadium.

The visitors were on top for long spells of the game but West Ham might have taken all three points had Andriy Yarmolenko not missed a glorious chance for them with 13 minutes remaining.

Yarmolenko got away from Marcos Alonso to meet Robert Snodgrass’ cross only to head wide with the goal at his mercy.

The Hammers also had two very good chances in as many minutes towards the end of the first half.

Both of them fell to Michail Antonio, who fired high and wide after being brilliantly set up by Felipe Anderson and then shot straight at keeper Kepa from five yards out.

Chelsea, playing less than 48 hours after arriving back from their Europa League win against PAOK in Greece, also had chances.

Alvaro Morata, on as a second-half substitute for Olivier Giroud, was denied by keeper Łukasz Fabiański at close range.

Blues boss Sarri started with Giroud, who missed a decent first-half opportunity when he failed to connect properly with an attempted scissor-kick after being found by Jorginho.

Another good Chelsea chance fell to David Luiz, who headed over from Willian’s cross.

Chelsea: Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Luiz, Rudiger (Cahill 68), Alonso, Jorginho, Kante, Kovacic (Barkley 78), Willian, Hazard, Giroud (Morata 64).
Subs not used: Caballero, Fabregas, Moses, Zappacosta.
