Tuchel savours ‘fantastic evening’ for Chelsea

Thomas Tuchel paid tribute to his Chelsea players after their thumping 4-0 win over Juventus in the Champions League.

Academy products Trevoh Chalobah, Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi scored before Timo Werner added the fourth in the final seconds.

Blues boss Tuchel said: “It was a very strong performance and an outstanding result.

“It was a great performance from everybody, so full credit to the players.

“What an effort, what an attitude, and to score so many goals against a team who defend so well is an amazing achievement.

“A fantastic evening for us with a great result. It’s important to enjoy it. We will keep the feet on the ground, but it was a very strong match for us.”

The victory sealed the holders’ place in the knockout stages of the tournament and put them top of Group H with one game left to play.

But the evening was somewhat soured by Ben Chilwell going off what with looked like a bad injury.

N’Golo Kante has another injury concern, having gone off 10 minutes before half-time.

And Chilwell was clearly in a lot of pain as he was helped from the pitch in the second half.

The England international’s condition will be assessed on Wednesday morning.

Tuchel admitted: “It worries me because he was in such a fantastic moment.

“He was in a lot of pain. Now he feels a bit better. We will have an examination tomorrow to be more precise.

“We hope for the best. Hopefully we get away, fingers crossed, with not too bad news.

“N’Golo was the same. He twisted his knee a little bit. Hopefully it’s not too bad.”
