Abraham fit but Silva and Pulisic set to miss Saints game

Tammy Abraham is expected to be passed fit Chelsea’s game against Southampton but Thiago Silva is still sidelined and Christian Pulisic is also set to miss out.

Abraham limped off during the win over Newcastle but was due to train on Friday looks likely to be available for Saturday’s game.

Kai Havertz is also back in training after his recent injury and is available for selection.

Silva, on the other hand, is still recovering from the thigh injury he picked up during the recent win at Tottenham.

And the injury-plagued Pulisic is now nursing a calf problem, although Blues boss Thomas Tuchel insisted the American’s withdrawal from training this week was more about “risk management” rather than any major concerns.

“Thiago will be out for the game – he is not ready,” Tuchel explained.

“We have some issues with the calf of Christian Pulisic – nothing big. It just feels tight and there is just a bit of a zone of risk, as I understand it. So there is a big question mark over Christian.

“He stopped training yesterday before it becomes an injury, so I would no say that it’s an injury – it’s a risk management to not be injured that relates to his history of having injuries.”

Tuchel also insisted Pulisic is part of Chelsea’s plans despite reports this week suggesting he could leave in the summer.
