Torres could be axed for Juventus clash

Fernando Torres could be dropped for Chelsea’s vital Champions League clash with Juventus.

The Spanish striker has not scored in five domestic games and struggled again in the 2-1 defeat at West Brom.

Daniel Sturridge missed chances to equalise at The Hawthorns after replacing Torres up front, but he did trouble Albion’s defence and may feature on Tuesday.

Manager Roberto Di Matteo will monitor his players ahead of the game in Turin, where a win would take Chelsea into the knockout phase of the tournament.

Di Matteo said: “We will have to assess the whole team and see how everybody is.

“But if I believe it is the right thing to do for the team, then yes I will leave him [Torres] out.

“I thought when we moved Daniel up there he looked a danger. He had a very good chance saved by the keeper and another put wide. He was always a threat.”
