Torres could return for West Brom game

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres could return to action against West Brom on Tuesday.

Torres is back in training after the knee injury he suffered after coming on as a substitute during the Blues’ recent win against Manchester United.

He will not be considered for this weekend’s game against Newcastle but Torres will be assessed on Monday and could travel to The Hawthorns next week.

Boss Jose Mourinho confirmed: “He is almost there, but we don’t want to risk him tomorrow.

“If it was the last game of the season I would say ‘Let’s go and do it’ but now is not the right time to risk.

“Now is the time to make sure we have all our players fully fit. Tuesday is a much better possibility.”
