Terry keen to sign new Chelsea contract

Chelsea captain John Terry hopes to sign a new deal before the end of the season.

The Blues legend, 33, is out of contract at the end of this term but said talks were ongoing.

“We are in talks,” said Terry, who is fit to face Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s Champions League semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge.

“We have had big games around us so haven’t talked for a few weeks but I am hoping it gets done.

“It’s down to the club. They know I want to stay; I have made it very clear to them. Hopefully things can be wrapped up before the end of season.”

Terry, who has spent his entire career at Chelsea and played 620 games for the club, added: “I have been here since I was 14 and I have been nowhere else.

“Clearly I want to stay here for the rest of my footballing days – and after that I hope as well.”
