Sunderland are looking to tie up a deal to sign defender Jake Clarke-Salter on loan from Chelsea.
Several clubs have expressed an interest in the 20-year-old, who has made two first-team appearances for the Blues.
He spent time on loan at Bristol Rovers last season and Chelsea are keen for him to pick up experience in the Championship this term.
Clarke-Salter was an unused substitute for Chelsea’s 0-0 draw at Norwich in the FA Cup on Saturday.
He featured for England during their victorious Under-20 World Cup campaign during the summer.
Clarke-Salter was last month tipped to join Nottingham Forest on loan.
