Sturridge likely to be fit for England game

Daniel Sturridge is expected to be available for England’s World Cup qualifier against Ukraine despite missing training because of illness.

The Chelsea forward did not take part in Monday morning’s session after complaining of stomach cramps.

But the England camp remain hopeful that Sturridge will fit for the game at Wembley, which Chelsea skipper John Terry will miss because of an ankle problem.

Sturridge, who recovered from viral meningitis in time to take part in the Olympics, will be assessed before England boss Roy Hodgson decides his line-up for Tuesday’s match.
