Spain boss Enrique aware of Broja threat

Luis Enrique has said he was wary of the threat Armando Broja posed to Spain.

The young Albania forward has impressed while on loan at Southampton from Chelsea this season and Spain boss Enrique was therefore well aware of Broja’s ability.

Spain were unconvincing in a 2-1 win over Albania and needed a last-minute goal from Dani Olmo to secure the victory.

But Enrique insisted he was happy with aspects of their performance, particularly their defending.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Enrique said: “Broja is very strong. If you look at him at Southampton he causes problems for the best central defenders in the world.

“We are not invincible. There were difficulties they put us under. They were going to test us and I am happy with the attitude we showed.

“We have to correct things, which is natural, but nobody is going to win by walking in modern football.”

Enrique’s starting line-up included Chelsea’s Marcos Alonso and Brentford goalkeeper David Raya, while Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta came on as a substitute.
