Willian speaks about snubbing Spurs move

Willian has been speaking out his decision to back out of a proposed move to Tottenham to join Chelsea in 2013.

The Brazilian famously snubbed Spurs after Chelsea moved to sign him from Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala.

Speaking to Chelsea TV, the 28-year-old insisted he did not hesitate when offered the chance to sign for the Blues.

“It was difficult. In the moment, only Tottenham to go (to), but I didn’t sign,” he said.

Willian had a six-year spell at Shakhtar Donetsk

“When at the last moment Chelsea come in, I say ‘I’m sorry, but I go to Chelsea – that’s my dream and I have to go there. I don’t care. I go there’.

“I think it was the best moment of my life when I signed with Chelsea because it was my dream to come here.”

Willian was a key player player in Chelsea’s 2015 title triumph and says he always expected to win the Premier League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

“I am very happy to play for Chelsea and win titles here,” he said.

“When I came I knew I was coming to a big club. I had no doubts.”
