Sarri wants goals from Kante

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri says midfielder N’Golo Kante is a player who is “more than important” to the club and expects him to get even better.

Kante has signed a new five-year contract with the Blues and has been an ever-present in the 12-match unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Under Sarri, the 27-year-old has been playing in a more advanced role and has remained an influential factor in Chelsea’s good start.

But the change in tactics have seen many question if Kante’s new position is getting the best out of two-time Premier League title winner.

Sarri joked that the Kante’s only fault was that Blues team-mate David Luiz said Kante was not quick to pay the bill when dining out.

“He’s very important for us in the defensive phase,” Sarri added.

“But he’s improving in offensive movements and now he must improve in the last 20 or 25 metres. He can score more goals.”
