Sarri dismisses reports Morata and Christensen could leave
Maurizio Sarri has dismissed reports that Alvaro Morata and Andreas Christensen could leave Chelsea in January.
The Sun have claimed that Chelsea have lost patience with Morata despite the Spaniard having scored in his last two appearances for the club.
Inter’s Mauro Icardi and AC Milan’s Patrick Cutrone have been lined up as potential replacements, the newspaper reported.
“I think they don’t know me very well,” said Sarri. “I am not able to think about the market at the moment.
“I am completely focused on my team – on improving my team and improving my players.
“In the last month I think Morata has played better and in the last three days I have seen him do very well in training.”
Meanwhile, Christsensen’s father this week suggested that the defender could look to leave Chelsea in January if he continues to be overlooked.
“The father? I am not interested,” said Blues head coach Sarri, whose first-choice centre-back pairing this season has so far been David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger.
“In the first part of the season David and Antonio have played really very well, so it’s not easy to change.
“I think also that in our last six matches, Christensen has played in three.
“So I think for his father probably the Europa League is not important, but for us it is important.”
Sarri added that Denmark international Christensen, 22, is part of his plans for the future.
“He is very young and I think he has to improve,” Sarri said.
“He is a technical defender so I think he is suitable for my way of football and I think in the future he will be able to play very often.”
